VG Media is driving international expansion as the collecting society of private TV and radio stations in Europe, representing a total of 118 channels from nine countries.
Until recently VG Media was the collecting society for German private broadcasters, with a majority ownership of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group. With contracts in place for SBS 6, Net 5 and Veronica in the Netherlands, Prima TV and Kiss TV, both from Romania, and TV 2 and RauteMusikFM from Hungary, the company is now moving internationally.
Recent contracts also include Al Jazeera, Bibel TV, Bloomberg, Deluxe TV, France 24 and Eurosport and encompasses rights collection from cable operators and public viewing places.
In a statement, Mark Round, managing director of VG Media said: ?With the internationalisation of the rights portfolio, we enhance our attractiveness to national and European rightholders. Efficiencies and synergies are substantial and are passed on both the to the owners of as well as to the users of these rights. At the same time we face the challenges of cross-border use of television and radio channels in a digital Europe.?
