Samsung Releases Source Code For The Galaxy W Before The Phone Is Even Released [Samsung Further Befriends Developers By Beginning To Release Source Code For Phones Ahead Of Their Releases]

Samsung is beginning to develop a good relationship with the Android development community, perhaps on purpose. We saw it not too long ago when they made kind gestures such as giving the CyanogenMod team some phones to tinker with and then hiring the head developer onto their own team. Now we see them releasing source code for phones yet to even be released.

What?s Samsung thinking here? The Galaxy W hasn?t even darkened the store shelves yet and the development community can already get to work on porting modifications and such. It just seems to be yet another hand of friendship offered to developers. Talk about encouraging innovation instead of stifling it.

The Galaxy W is suiting up to be a strong mid-range Android phone sporting specs such as:

  • 1.4 GHz processor
  • 5MP rear-facing camera
  • WVGA display
  • 4GB internal memory

Still, it?s nice to see the manufacturers trying to make friends with the development community.
