According to New York Magazine's Vulture blog, Katie Holmes is set to play a lustful Jack-O-Lantern on How I Met Your Mother's special Halloween episode next month. The character is a woman who Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) lost touch with after a Halloween party years ago and now resurfaces as a potential love interest.

Co-creator Craig Thomas told the site, after finally casting a role "literally six seasons in the making," he is thrilled with his pick. "Katie is a lovely and talented actress," he says of the star, who has daughter Suri Cruise with husband Tom. "Which is why we've saved for her perhaps the most classily named character in our show's history."
The CBS comedy has also featured guest spots by Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Rachel Bilson, and Sarah Chalke.
